Phillies top Red Sox for series win!

Philadelphia celebrates it's first series win

In our 7th World Series it will be the Piladelphia Phillies in their first series versus the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox won am impressive 101 games on the season mostly due to their strong starting rotation of Dutch Leonard who set the era record at 1.30 and won 24 games, followed by Ernie Shore who won 18 games and posted a 2.11 era, and rookie Babe Ruth who posted a 17-10 record with a 2.35 era. The Phillies are led by starters Alexander, 21 wins 1.69 era, Erskine also 21 wins with a 2.72 era and Eppa Rixey who won 16 games and had an era of 2.39. The Phillies also have a true slugger in Gavvy Cravath who set the major league mark in home runs with 31.
The series starts in Boston where the visiting Phillies jump out to a 5-0 start and lead after 7 innings. The Red Sox sent 10 batters to the plate in the 8th and scored 4 runs but it was too little too late as the Phillies take the opener 5-4. Babe Ruth takes the loss and Mayer is credited with the win.

The Red Sox come back strong in game two behind a excellent pitching performance by Ernie Shore who held the Phillies to 4 hits and strong hitting by Duffy Lewis who was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI, and catcher Pinch Thomas who was 4 for 4 on the day.

The Phillies keep rolling in game four with a 7 to 3 win. Eppa Rixey held the Red Sox to 7 hits and once again Gavvy Cravath led the power with a 2 run homer. Fred Luderus was also 4 for 4 on the day collecting 3 RBI. Red Sox ace Dutch Leonard took the loss giving up 6 runs on 8 hits in 6 innnings pitched.
BOX SCORE GAME FOUR
The Red Sox and Ernie Shore pick up their second win in the series in game five sending the series back to Boston for game six by a score of 3 to 2. Fred Luderus was 3 for 4 on the day with a homeer for the Phillies.

The Phillies close out the series in Boston in game 6 with a 8 to 3 pounding of the home town club. Al Demaree picked up the win for the Phillies as Babe Ruth received his second loss of the series. Fred Luderus collected his 7th and 8th RBI of the series and was named the series MVP.
