Chicago Cubs win their second World Series

In our 5th World Series it will be the Philadelphia Athletics versus the Chicago Cubs. Both clubs won 96 games in the regular season. The Athletics bring a strong starting rotation into the series with 3 pitchers who won at least 20 games and all four starters posted an era less than 2.00. Their ace Cheif Bender led the team in both catergories with 23 wins and an era of 1.63. Their batting lineup includes leadoff hitter Eddie Collins who hit .360 and stole 60 bases. For the Chicago Cubs starting rotation is lead by Mordecai Brown who won 21 games. The Cubs lineup is anchored by Frank Chance and Frank Schulte who belted 10 home runs on the season.
The series will start in Philadelphia where the hometown team starts the scoring in the bottom of the 6th inning going up 1-0. Each team puts one on the board in both the 8th and 9th innnings making the final 3-2 in favor of the Athletics. Jack Coombs picks up the win and Jeff Pfeffer takes the loss.

Philadelphia have any luck slowing down the offenses as the Athletics collect 16 hits and the Cubs 9. The Athletics do all their damage in the first 5 frames scoring 8 runs. It is pretty a team effort led by Murphy and Lapp who have 3 hits each. Joe Tinker bats 3 for 3 with 3 RBI in the loss.
BOX SCORE GAME THREE
The Cubs even the series in game 4 with an excellent performace by Orval Overall who holds the Athletics to just 3 hits and 1 run. With the score notted at 1 in the bottom of the 7th they send 10 batters to the plate scoring 5 runs on 5 hits. Frank Chance and Solly Hoffman collect 2 RBI a piece in the inning.
BOX SCORE GAME FOUR
In game 5 the hometown club win their 3rd game of the series with an great performance by Solly Hoffman once again knocking in 3 of the 5 runs scored in the 5-2 contest. King Cole picks up the win for Chicago while Jack Coombs takes the loss. The series is now 3-2 in favor of Chicago.

The series once again moves back to Philadephia where the hometown club takes full advantage of a full house. The Athletics Rube Oldring collects 3 RBI on the day while his club ties the series with a 6-2 victory. Cy Morgan gets the win holding the Cubs to 2 runs on 5 hits.
BOX SCORE GAME SIX
With the series tied at 3 games a piece each club turns to their ace starters, and it's Brown versus Plank again. This time it's Mordecai Brown who gets the win in a pitcher's duel 2-1. With the score tied at 1 a piece in the top of the 9th inning Johnny Kling doubles scoring Sherkard for the game and series win. Johnny was awarded the series MVP for his game winning hit.
