Crowe and Haddix Swapped
Friday, October 8th , 1954
According to BNN there were mixed emotions by the players involved in the trade between the Milwaukee Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals. As part of the deal, the Braves swapped 31-year old 1B George Crowe to the Cardinals getting 29-year old LHP Harvey Haddix and $300 in cash in return. The players indicated it was good to get a fresh new start in another city, but it was difficult to leave your friends on the old team.
St. Louis will retain a portion of Haddix's remaining contract.
In his career, the 29-year-old Haddix has accumulated a 27-23 won-lost mark and opposing clubs have hit .247 against him.
