Maglie Fires Shutout in Giants Victory

New York pitcher Sal Maglie put on a show and walked away with a shutout victory, 6-0, over the Cincinnati Redlegs, throttling them on 3 hits. He cruised through the Redlegs lineup, fanning 8 and walking 2 in a strong outing.
"He was very efficient and he hit his spots," Giants manager said after the game. "He stayed down in the zone and stayed away from the middle of the plate."
Maglie has made 29 starts, tossed 231.2 innings, struck out 103 batters and walked 78. His record is 17-6 with a 2.95 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .241 batting average.
