1911 was a fine year for New York catcher Jack Meyers and it was topped off today with the announcement that he is the winner of the NL Most Valuable Batter Award.
Meyers starred this season with a .368 batting average, 194 hits, 9 home runs, 102 RBIs, .426 OBP and 90 runs scored.
He received 13 first place votes out of a possible 16. Heinie Zimmerman of the Chicago Cubs finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Jake Daubert of the Brooklyn Dodgers finished third with 1 first place vote.
