The Reds world series win may have come with a cloud hanging over it. They displelled the ntion they didn’t belong as champions when they beat Black Baseball’s reigning champion’s the Detroit Stars in the 4th annual Integrated World Series, 4 games to 2.
The Reds were led by Heinie Groh, Edd Roush, Greasy Neale and Ivey Wingo at the plate. From the mound Hod Eller won two contests, Dutch Ruether and Slim Sallee the other games. For the Stars Bruce Petway, Vicente RodrIguez, and John Donaldson, who belted 3 homers in the series provided the bats. John Donaldson also pitched in game three but lost to Slim Sallee of the Reds.

Vicente Rodrigez of the Stars, Dolf (Adolfo) Luque and Manuel Cueto of the Reds all played in the Cuban League in the winter of 1916. At the end of Luque’s career he would be enshired in both the Major League’s and the Cuban League’s Hall of Fame.
