Washington Over Boston, 8-3, 200th Win for Day
Saturday, September 18th , 1954
History was made today at Griffith Stadium -- Leon Day won game #200 to seal his name in the league record books. The Washington ace downed the Boston Red Sox 8-3 to gain entrance into the elite 200 Club.

"I was wound up at first. I think I threw too hard," remarked Day, "I had to calm down and go out there and pitch... not just throw. I think I got better as the game wore on. I started to think less about 200 wins and more about doing what I had to do."

In his lifetime numbers Day has a 200-232 won-lost record with a 4.20 ERA.
