AL Awards Outstanding Pitcher Trophy

The AL Most Valuable Pitcher Award winner has been chosen and the trophy goes to Chicago hurler Ed Walsh for his outstanding season in 1911.

Walsh was quite impressive with a 24-15 record and a 2.16 ERA. In 39 starts and 354 innings, he struck out 229 and gave up 281 hits and 106 walks. Teams hit .217 against him.

He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 16. Charles Bender of the Philadelphia Athletics finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Jose Mendez of the Washington Senators finished third.
