When it came to hitting the baseball, Morrie Rath of the Cleveland Naps outdid his freshman peers in the AL this year and was named the 1911 Rookie of the Year Award winner earlier today.

The standout Naps third baseman took the honor by hitting .323 in 140 games this season and finished with 148 hits, 2 home runs, 32 RBIs and 87 runs scored.

He received 16 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Vean Gregg of the Philadelphia Athletics finished second in voting, while Buck O'Brien of the Boston Red Sox finished third.
