Best AL Reliever Named Friday, November 3rd , 1911 Curly Brown said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 22 years old. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the St. Louis Browns rising star has won the AL Reliever of the Year Award for 1911. He captured the award on the strength of his 4.09 ERA over 134.1 innings. He also had 14 saves in 99 relief appearances, 50 strikeouts and only 56 walks.
