Philadelphia Athletics pitcher Jack Coombs really got it done at Shibe Park in a 1-0 shutout victory over the New York Highlanders, shutting them down on 1 hit.
"It was just one of those games where everything went right. I threw a lot of strikes," Coombs said. "And the pitches they did get to hit, they didn't do anything with them."
The 28-year-old issued 2 walks and had 9 strikeouts in the Athletics win.
