Saturday, September 16th , 1911
Dixie Walker shut out the St. Louis Browns, 8-0, on a 4-hit masterpiece for the Washington Senators at Griffith Stadium.

"He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Washington skipper said afterward.

Walker registered 6 strikeouts and issued 2 walks in pitching a gem.

"We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said St. Louis manager after the defeat.

So far this year, Walker has made 17 starts, tossed 142 innings, struck out 58 batters and walked 40. His record is 7-9 with a 3.23 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .255 batting average.
