Seattle Wins, Wilson goes 4-for-5
|
The Seattle Mariners beat the Boston Red Sox, 8-6, at Fenway Park. The win was due in part to designated hitter Jud Wilson, who went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Felix Hernandez earned the win to go to 10-5. He allowed 1 run on 1 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work. Seattle, now 47-45, holds down third place in the American League Western Division.
In the top of the third, Wilson had a 3-run home run for Seattle. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Mariners on top, 4-1.
"We put it together and came out with the win," Wilson said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
