Bagwell Homers Twice in 6-3 Win
With first baseman Jeff Bagwell leading the charge, the Houston Astros defeated the Tampa Bay Rays, 6-3, at Minute Maid Park. Bagwell, who is tied for 10th in the AL in hits with 99, was 4-4 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Houston reliever Frank DiPino picked up the win to move to 2-1. Matt Garza suffered the loss. Houston, now 55-38, holds down first place in the American League Western Division.

Bagwell contributed in the bottom of the third. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was one at-bat among others that helped Houston get the win.

Bagwell told a Houston Chronicle reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
