The Toronto Blue Jays buried the Kansas City Royals, 12-2, under a barrage of hits. Bo Bichette led the onslaught, going 2-for-5 for Toronto. Doyle Alexander, the winner, improved to 5-5. He held the Royals to 2 runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 1. The win gives Toronto a season record of 47-45.

With Toronto leading 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Bichette batted against Kansas City pitcher Bret Saberhagen. Bichette hit a fastball to right for a grand slam home run. His 13th home run of the season put the Blue Jays on top, 8-2.
