Blue Jays Scratch and Claw to 6-1 Win
|
Getting an impressive start from Roy Halladay, Toronto beat Detroit by the score of 6-1. The win went to Tom Henke in relief. His record improves to 5-3. Willie Hernandez took the loss. With the win, Toronto goes to 46-44, while the Tigers fall to 37-50.
Candy Jim Taylor delivered a big hit for Toronto. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"I tried to establish all my pitches early," said Halladay.
