Athletics Suffer 6-3 Home Loss
|
Eddie Cicotte, who is tied for 6th in the AL in wins with 9, had a strong outing for the Chicago White Sox against the Oakland Athletics at O.co Coliseum. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 6-3 win. Cicotte yielded 3 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 9-6. With this game in the books, Chicago is 48-39, Oakland 45-40.
Chicago used a well-timed hit by George Scales to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the White Sox ahead, 5-3. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it was important.
"Winning is not something we take for granted," Scales said.
