The Kansas City Royals managed to get by the Los Angeles Angels, 4-3, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Kansas City pitcher Bret Saberhagen set himself apart with his performance. Kansas City reliever Greg Holland picked up the win, raising his record to 3-1. Frank Tanana was tagged with the loss. The win puts the Royals at 42-45, while the Angels drop to 39-48.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Salvador Perez? The 31-year old catcher Perez stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Kansas City up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
