Astros Take It on Chin, Lose 11-3 to Minnesota
The Minnesota Twins pasted the Houston Astros with a convincing 11-3 defeat at Target Field. Sam Rice was a prime factor in the Minnesota win. He was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Ted Trent earned the win, while 28-year old right-handed pitcher Gerrit Cole took the loss for Houston. The first-place Twins have a record of 46-38.

Kirby Puckett hit a 3-run home run off Gerrit Cole in the bottom of the first, which put the Twins ahead, 3-0. In addition to the homer, Puckett had 1 double, while going 2 for 5.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Puckett told the Minnesota Bulletin.
