Late Rally Gets 2-1 Win for Blue Jays
Rangers Ballpark in Arlington hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.

Toronto Blue Jays starter Doyle Alexander worked his magic, to help his team defeat the Texas Rangers, 2-1. Toronto reliever Tom Henke picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Jeff Russell absorbed the loss.

Toronto used the timely hitting of Tony Fernandez to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Said Texas manager : "They pitched the heck out of us."

The Blue Jays are now 40-42, while the Rangers fall to 32-50.
