Ruffing Boss as New York Beats Toronto, 1-0
|
In a well-pitched game between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays, pitcher Red Ruffing was superb. The New York right-hander helped his team win, 1-0. Toronto now has a record of 7-3.
The win was credited to Ruffing. He raised his season record to 1-1. In 8 innings of work, Ruffing gave up no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 10. The Blue Jays never could get a clutch hit when they needed it.
"No disrespect to the other team," said New York manager . "But it's nice to get an easy win."
