Oakland third baseman Eric Chavez had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Texas at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Chavez went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times. Texas, now 29-44, holds down last place in the American League Western Division.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Texas. That's when Josh Hamilton, who is tied for 10th in the AL in stolen bases with 11, hit a 2-run home run off Andrew Bailey to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"This wasn't a good win," said Hamilton. "It was a great win."
