Royals Pick Up 3-2 Road Win Over Houston
Shane Reynolds pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Houston Astros, despite Reynolds's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Kansas City Royals at Minute Maid Park. Steve Busby earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Picking up his 19th save was 27-year old right-handed pitcher Jeff Montgomery.

Carlos Beltran had a direct impact on the outcome. Beltran contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Kansas City up, 3-1.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Kansas City manager . "Our pregame was pretty good."

Kansas City, at 35-36, occupies third place in the American League Central Division.
