The Chicago White Sox beat the Boston Red Sox, 11-4, at U.S. Cellular Field. Chicago center fielder Alejandro Oms led the way. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 6. The second-place White Sox now have a record of 40-35.

The White Sox got a big hit from left fielder Minnie Minoso. In the bottom of the sixth, Minoso smacked a grand slam home run off Boston pitcher Mel Parnell. It was his 3rd home run of the season. Suddenly, the White Sox were ahead, 7-4.

"No complaints from me," said White Sox manager . "I like what I saw out there."
