White Sox Fall to Yankees Late
|
The New York Yankees took Chicago pitcher Red Faber's best shot and still were able to claim a win at U.S. Cellular Field. The final score had New York getting past the White Sox, 3-2. Faber went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 4. New York, now 41-27, holds down first place in the American League Eastern Division.
Howard Easterling came through with a big-time hit for New York. The third baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Anytime we get it going, it puts a smile on my face," said Easterling.
