Houston Astros starter Shane Reynolds pitched effectively against the Texas Rangers at Minute Maid Park. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 7-1 win. The loss makes Texas 25-39.

Houston went up, 2-1, on Brad Ausmus's 4th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Ausmus hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Texas pitcher Matt Harrison shaking his head.

"I had a good game plan," said Reynolds. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
