Yankees Lose Big to Royals, 12-1
The Kansas City Royals cruised to a win over the New York Yankees, 12-1, at Kauffman Stadium. Jermaine Dye led the way, going 3-for-4 for Kansas City. The third-place Royals are now 30-32, the Yankees 39-23.

With Kansas City leading 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Dye came up to bat against New York pitcher Babe Ruth. Dye hit a fastball to left-center for a bases-clearing triple. His 1st triple of the season put the Royals on top, 6-0.

"We put the pedal to the metal," said Dye.
