Baltimore Tacks 7-6 Loss on Oakland
|
Oakland got a terrific game from shortstop Miguel Tejada. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Baltimore, 7-6. Tejada was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Dave McNally picked up the win, lifting his record to 6-1 on the season. He struck out 3 and walked 1 in 5.2 innings, while yielding 5 runs. Picking up the save was 37-year old right-handed pitcher Stu Miller.
Baltimore used a well-timed hit by Rick Dempsey to capture the win. The catcher socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Orioles ahead, 6-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Dempsey.
With the win over Oakland, the Orioles improved to 27-32.
