Both offenses were relatively subdued at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Fortunately for the Houston Astros, though, Kyle Tucker was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice, to lead his team past the Los Angeles Angels, 3-0. Joe Niekro was the winner. He's now 6-2. The loser was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Andy Messersmith. Earning his 18th save of the year was Larry Andersen.
Houston took a 3-0 lead on Tucker's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Jered Weaver in the top of the eighth, propelled Houston to the win.
Said Los Angeles manager : "When you don't score, it's never a good thing."
Houston is now 39-23, while Los Angeles is 24-32.
