Bill Gatewood was nothing short of phenomenal for the Boston Red Sox. The 38-year-old right-hander was a big reason his team beat the Baltimore Orioles, 2-1. Jonathan Papelbon was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 12 save opportunities. The third-place Red Sox bumped their record to 28-32.

Ted Williams, who is tied for 7th in the AL in extra base hits with 26, helped out the Boston cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the designated hitter was 2-4 with a double.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Baltimore manager . "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
