Royals Lose By a Run at Detroit
The Detroit Tigers had to overcome a big game from Kansas City center fielder Carlos Beltran to leave Comerica Tigers Park with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-5. Beltran was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Todd Jones came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 4-1. The setback makes Kansas City 27-29.

Detroit took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, Charlie Gehringer hit a run-scoring single to make it 6-5, Tigers.

"We've got great fans," said Gehringer. "I hope they got what they came for."
