Minnesota pitcher Ted Trent had a large part in his team beating the Los Angeles Angels, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Minnesota reliever Ron G Davis picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Dave Brown was saddled with the loss. Picking up the save was 31-year old right-handed pitcher Joe Nathan.

The Twins got a big at-bat from third baseman Cecil Travis. For the game, Travis went 1-4 with a triple. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 3rd triple of the season gave Minnesota a 3-2 lead.

"We have a lot of confidence in Ted," said Minnesota manager .

Minnesota is in 4th place in the American League Central Division with a record of 28-30.
