The Minnesota Twins racked up a win at Progressive Field, bumping off the Cleveland Indians, 4-2. Roy Welmaker, who started for Minnesota, pitched effectively for his team. Joe Nathan locked down his 11th save. The 4th-place Twins lifted their record to 27-29.
Rod Carew had a direct impact on the outcome. Carew contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Minnesota up, 3-2.
"You could tell Roy had an idea about where the ball was going and what he was trying to do," said Minnesota manager .
