Los Angeles took on Chicago in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. Dave Brown, in particular, was fantastic. The Los Angeles left-hander helped his team snag the win, 3-0. The winning pitcher was Brown, now 6-3. He tossed 5.2 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 8. Francisco Rodriguez got credit for the save for Los Angeles. It was his 10th of the year.
Kendry Morales had a direct impact on the outcome. Morales contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Los Angeles up, 1-0.
"Dave was hitting his spots," said Los Angeles manager . "It's hard to pitch better than that."
Today's win puts Los Angeles at 22-27, while Chicago falls to 28-24.
