Roy Welmaker was masterful in helping the Minnesota Twins take down the Baltimore Orioles, 4-1. Welmaker, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Baltimore, with the loss, is still a stout 3-1.

The Twins had to work out of trouble with one out in the top of the seventh. The score was 3-0, Minnesota. But Baltimore, with runners on 1st and 2nd, had mounted a threat. Clint Thomas dug in at the plate. But on a full count fastball, Thomas struck out.
