The New York Yankees got a sterling performance from pitcher Ron Guidry, but the Toronto Blue Jays still prevailed, 5-3. Guidry threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Picking up the save was Duane Ward, his 16th. Toronto, at 29-23, holds down second place in the American League Eastern Division.
Bo Bichette chipped in for Toronto, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh inning. For the game, the shortstop was 2-4 with 2 singles.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Bichette.
