Twins Wrest Win from Athletics, 3-2
|
Oakland got a big-time effort from pitcher Rube Waddell, but it wasn't enough to keep the Minnesota Twins from winning the game, 3-2. Waddell threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The Twins, at 26-28, inhabit 4th place in the American League Central Division.
Goose Goslin was the walk-off hero for Minnesota. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Twins pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We had a hellacious effort," said Twins manager . "We hung in there and hung in there."
