The inspired effort of Houston designated hitter Jose Altuve was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-5, to the Boston Red Sox. Altuve was 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Houston, with the loss, is still a robust 5-1.
It could have been a different outcome for Boston, had it not been for Jimmy Collins, the slick-fielding third baseman . Collins contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Boston up, 6-5.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Red Sox manager .
