Lowe Helps Rays Defeat Astros, 9-1
|
The Tampa Bay Rays pinned a convincing loss on the Houston Astros, 9-1, at Tropicana Field. Brandon Lowe was a main factor in the win. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay pitcher Wilson Alvarez got the win, upping his record to 5-3. Andy Porter got the loss. Tampa Bay bumps their record to 17-30 with the win.
With Tampa Bay leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Lowe hit a 2-run single off Houston hurler Andy Porter. It was the 36th hit of the season for Lowe and put his team ahead, 3-0.
"We put on our big boy pants and went to work," said Lowe.
