Indians Win, 7-4, Versus Chicago
|
Chicago got a terrific game from designated hitter Heavy Johnson. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Cleveland, 7-4. Johnson went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Addie Joss notched his 10th save of the season. Cleveland, now 22-26, holds down last place in the American League Central Division.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Rocky Colavito came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Chicago pitcher Doc White, he hit a 2-1 changeup for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Cleveland on top, 6-4.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Colavito told the Cleveland Citizen.
