Athletics Stumble Again, Lose, 7-3
|
The Chicago White Sox topped the Oakland Athletics, 7-3, the lion's share of the credit going to catcher A J Pierzynski. On the day, Pierzynski went 4-4 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the White Sox. The losses continue to mount for Oakland, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
Had George Scales not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Scales hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the White Sox.
"Losing feels worse," said Oakland manager , "than winning feels good."
