Rangers Pick Up 4-3 Win Against Boston
|
The Texas Rangers topped the Boston Red Sox, 4-3, in American League action at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The game was highlighted by the performance of Texas pitcher Nolan Ryan. Ryan, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 10 and giving up 2 walks. The Red Sox, at 22-21, have lost 4 straight games.
The Red Sox had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Rangers going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old shortstop Corey Seager came to the plate. Seager hit a 2-run double on a 2-0 fastball from Boston hurler Smoky Joe Wood. It was Seager's 15th double of the year.
"Nolan was really on it," said Texas manager . "He's got a feel for playing with the hitter front-to-back, side-to-side."
