Cole Now 6-2 After Subduing Twins
|
Gerrit Cole, who leads the AL in strikeouts with 86, never let the Twins get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Astros to a win, 4-0. Houston, now 28-15, holds down first place in the American League Western Division.
Cole made it look effortless. He scattered 1 hit over 7 innings, while racking up 12 strikeouts. The Houston right-hander encountered little resistance from the Minnesota hitters. His season record is now 6-2.
"I had one goal in mind," said Cole. "Keep pounding the zone."
