Blue Jays Win, 5-4, Versus Seattle
|
The Seattle Mariners got a sterling performance from pitcher Erik Hanson, but the Toronto Blue Jays still prevailed, 5-4. Hanson threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Paul Quantrill earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. The Blue Jays saw their win-loss record go to 23-20. At the same time, the Mariners fell to 19-24.
Bo Bichette delivered a big hit for Toronto. The shortstop drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Bichette told reporters after the game.
