Angels Lose Versus Kansas City, 6-4
|
The Kansas City Royals topped the Los Angeles Angels, 6-4, in American League action at Kauffman Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Kansas City pitcher Mark Gubicza. Gubicza picked up the win for Kansas City, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2. Picking up the save was Jeff Montgomery, his 12th.
Jermaine Dye had a big 2-run home run for the Royals in the bottom of the third inning. With Kansas City trailing 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Dean Chance, who is the 4th-best prospect in the Angels organization, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Royals on top, 3-2.
"When Mark is on, he can really move the ball around," said Kansas City manager .
Kansas City, at 21-23, occupies second place in the American League Central Division.
