Twins Winners, 5-3, at Fenway Park
|
The Minnesota Twins topped the Boston Red Sox, 5-3, in American League action at Fenway Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Minnesota pitcher Walter Johnson. Joe Nathan got credit for the save for Minnesota. It was his 8th of the year. The Twins improved their record to 17-23 with the win over Boston.
In the top of the first, Kirby Puckett delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Minnesota left fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Twins in front, 5-3.
"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Minnesota manager . "That's what Walter is right now."
