The first-place New York Yankees took on the Oakland Athletics in front of a spirited crowd.
Behind an impressive start by Stan Bahnsen, New York beat Oakland, 6-0. Oakland's current losing streak is now 5 games.
The Yankees got a big at-bat from designated hitter Babe Ruth. For the game, Ruth was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave New York a 2-0 lead.
