The inspired effort of Tampa Bay designated hitter Cristobal Torriente was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-4, to the Chicago White Sox. Torriente went 2-4 with 2 home runs. Red Faber, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 5-3. Doc White picked up the save for Chicago, his 4th of the year.
Center Fielder Johnny Mostil made an impact for Chicago, when he swatted a run-scoring triple off James Shields in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, Mostil was 1 for 3 with a triple.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Mostil.
The White Sox raised their record to 22-19.
