Los Angeles Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
Don Sutton pitched a gem to help the Los Angeles Dodgers escape with a tight, 2-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants in a low-scoring Round 1 contest. The right-handed Sutton threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball in the win, just enough for the Dodgers on a day when their offense dried up. Los Angeles now leads the best-of-7 series 2-0.
Sutton delivered a quality start for Los Angeles. The 6-foot-1 right-hander allowed no earned runs on 5 hits over 7 innings of work.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Dodgers manager said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, September 23rd , 2014 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
