Orioles Score Decisive 9-3 Win Over Royals
|
Thanks in large part to designated hitter Ken Williams, the Baltimore Orioles beat the Kansas City Royals, 9-3. Williams was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. Today's win puts Baltimore at 19-19, while Kansas City falls to 15-20.
Rick Dempsey had a big bases-clearing triple for the Orioles in the top of the second inning. With Baltimore leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Booker McDaniel and swatted a triple to left. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Orioles ahead, 5-0.
"We scored more than enough runs this time," said Baltimore manager . "Now watch. The next game we'll probably struggle to get a base hit."
